Job Summary | Bowdoin College has a full-time, academic year, benefits-eligible Laboratory Instructor position available beginning the fall semester 2024. The Chemistry Department is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to work closely with supervising faculty to teach laboratory sections in courses including introductory and inorganic chemistry. Responsibilities include experimental design, laboratory preparation (the generation of laboratory handouts, assembling chemicals, maintaining equipment/instrumentation, and providing for the collection and disposal of all laboratory waste), presenting pre-lab lectures, supervising laboratory sections, scaffolding exploratory student mini-projects, supervising student assistants, providing guidance about data analysis and scientific writing, and grading pre-lab assignments and laboratory reports. Successful applicants will join a supportive chemistry department comprised of nine faculty members, six laboratory instructors, an instrumentation specialist, and an academic coordinator.
