Job Description Summary

The School of Arts and Sciences Information Technology (IT) department is hiring an IT Manager to supervise three full-time local support providers, manage IT projects across a broad range of SAS departments, and provide direct user support for complex needs and projects.

Penn's School of Arts and Sciences is world-renowned for exceptional faculty, innovative research, and top-tier degree programs. SAS Computing is seeking an IT Manager to join our computing team in providing excellent support to our faculty, staff, and students.   


Job Responsibilities


Primary responsibilities include supervising three full-time local support providers, providing direct user support for complex needs and issues, and managing computing projects across a variety of departments and centers. 


 


As the Manager of the Humanities IT team, this position has an important role in providing leadership, guidance, and hands-on support to a team of three full-time employees. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of exceptional IT services to faculty and staff within the Humanities department. 


 


This role collaborates closely with faculty and staff to understand their needs and ensure that IT solutions align with their goals, particularly in complex or sensitive projects such as faculty research endeavors and College Office requirements.  


 


Additionally, the IT Manager oversees the integration of the humanities team into broader school-wide IT initiatives, ensuring clear communication of objectives and timely achievement of deadlines. This includes involvement in projects such as security enhancements, operating system upgrades, and software deployments. 


 


The IT Manager is also directly involved in providing advanced technical support to clients within the Humanities department, especially in cases where expertise and sensitivity are necessary. They also actively participate in SAS Computing teams, including the LSP managers team, where they provide updates on ongoing projects and offer support to peers in their respective roles. They can also join additional teams based on personal interests and expertise. 


Qualifications


Required: 


  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent customer service skills 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Mac and Windows OSes, mobile devices, classroom A/V issues 

  • Working knowledge of information security best practices 

  • Ability to support users at different levels of technical competency/comfort 

  • Ability to manage complex projects and ensure compliance with deadlines 

  • Excellent supervisory skills, including attention to staff’s growth and development 

 
Preferred:  

  • Experience with enterprise system management  

  • Experience with ticketing system(s)

$61,046.00 - $85,000.00 Annual Rate
