Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Info Technology Consultant, competency level 2, position for the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position plays a pivotal role within the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, providing essential IT support to volunteers and staff. With a primary focus on delivering exceptional customer service, this role ensures the smooth operation of IT systems and services critical to the success of the VITA program. Responsibilities include assisting users with applications and software, configuring systems, providing technical advice and expertise, and acting as a liaison between staff and IT resources. By effectively managing these duties, the Information Technology Consultant contributes significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the VITA program’s IT infrastructure.
VITA is a collaborative venture between the College of Business, Oregon State University Extension, and the Internal Revenue Service, designed to complete federal and state tax returns for low to moderate-income individuals and families in Oregon. The VITA program engages with outreach to expand services of Black, Indigenous, Pacific Islander and Hispanic communities in all areas of Oregon. VITA is funded by a grant from the Oregon Department of Human Services.

What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
What You Will Need
  • Experience providing customer service support in a professional organization environment.
  • Experience deploying and managing software packages.
  • Experience providing desktop and laptop support for multiple users in an organization setting.
  • Experience with desktop imaging software.
  • Experience providing support for Windows Desktop OS and MS Office suite of desktop applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technology issues to users of all technical levels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer networking principles.
  • Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Experience navigating large IT and finance organizations.
  • Progress/coursework toward a general college technical business degree.
  • Hands on experience with VITA.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
  • May require moving, lifting technology hardware weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • May occasionally require late evenings or weekends to support site operations, events, upgrades, or troubleshooting.
  • May occasionally be expected to respond in the evening or weekends in the event of an emergency.
  • May occasionally need to drive/travel to VITA sites to provide in-person support.
