1. Plans, organizes, schedules and conducts inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment. Monitors site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements.  2. Selects and implements corrective action and follows-up to ensure proper action has been taken.  Records data and compiles it into statistical analyses and reports.  Operates, maintains, certifies, inspects, calibrates and oversees installation of safety equipment.  3. Oversees the collection, packaging, testing, storing, transporting and/or disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and/or waste. Performs laboratory techniques on sample materials.  Performs routine biological, chemical and radiation surveys/sampling for exposure potential and regulatory compliance.  4. Prepares and submits detailed reports to department managers for corrective action to be taken or maintenance to be performed. Follows-up to ensure proper action has been taken.  May assist in the mitigation of hazardous material incidents.   5. Oversees and instructs support staff.  Attends and participates in professional and committee meetings related to health and safety issues. Serves as a principal source of information on health and safety issues.  6. Assists with the development and administration of programs, reports, training and employee seminars.  Conducts research in the planning, development and organization of employee informational seminars.  7. Presents portions of safety seminars.  Orders material and supplies.  Performs additional functions incidental to health and safety activities.
Required Skill/ability 1:  Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Required Skill/ability 2:  Demonstrated organizational skills.
Required Skill/ability 3:  Data entry experience and computer skills (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook).
Required Skill/ability 4:  Ability to work well with others as well as ability to work independently.
Preferred Education:  Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health & Safety or prior Yale EHS Industrial Hygiene Intern. Knowledge/experience in environmental, biological and chemical analysis.
Work Week:  Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
