Implementation Research Scientist (1 Position) – CSW:

Social Work Office of Research and Public Service

Salary Range: $85,000 - $92,000

The University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Social Work, through the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) is accepting applications for an Implementation Research Scientist for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services Title IV-E Evaluation and Fidelity Monitoring Project. Reporting to the Director for the Division of Applied Research and Evaluation, the Implementation Research Scientist position carries a high level and a broad range of responsibilities in project administration, implementation support/facilitation and research/evaluation for Evidence-Based Programs (EBPs) that positively affect children and families.   The person in this position is tasked with partnering with key external and internal stakeholders to co-create and monitor implementation plans of EBPs in a variety of settings across the state, identifying and implementing strategies to build readiness for implementation and/or rigorous evaluations, and leading efforts in continuous quality improvement and adherence to evidence-based program models.  The person in this position has deep working knowledge of the science and practice of implementation, organizational change, and system transformation in human services and child welfare, including demonstrated experience in development of tools, measures, coaching systems, and learning resources that support practitioners engaged in implementation and scaling of EBPs.  The person in this position collaborates closely with and supervises a Lead Evaluation & Research Specialist spearheading the work of a team of Implementation Specialists assigned to support community providers in adoption of EBPs.  The person in this position leads efforts for building capacity to monitor fidelity/adherence to EBPs and to track system-wide outcomes, and supervises a Statistical Analyst dedicated to designing dashboards and other tools to track outputs and outcomes related to implementation, continuous quality improvement, and evaluation of EBPs.  The person in this position is tasked also with contributing to and/or preparing presentations and publications, as well as making judgments about methods of communicating and reporting findings in manner that meets unique client needs.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The following job duties include, but not limited to:

Implementation of Evidence-Based Programs

-Serve as chair of the Core Implementation Team

-Lead the development and management of comprehensive plans to implement identified strategies that build readiness for implementation and fidelity monitoring of selected EBPs

-Support capacity building and lead efforts for policy and practice alignment

-Lead development of implementation metrics for Title IV-E Evidence-Based Programs (EBP) in Tennessee to assess update and impact on the safety and well-being of children and families

Data Strategy

-Collaborate with external and internal data and systems teams to build capacity to track system-wide EBP implementation and outcomes

-Review and initiate data sharing agreements to support data infrastructure for project reporting and research projects

-Support cross-agency/provider coalitions to promote the advancement of data infrastructure for project reporting and research projects

-Lead the development of specifications for dashboards and other project tools to track fidelity monitoring of selected Title IV-E Prevention EBPs and progress towards targeted outcomes

Knowledge Translation & Dissemination

-Lead the development of a detailed workplan for knowledge translation in collaboration with other project team members

-Prepare and present professional, publishable reports and presentations to guide decision making and continuous quality improvement efforts

-Participate in the development and delivery of ongoing technical assistance/training activities offered to DCS staff and providers to support effective implementation of EBPs

-Utilize data to make recommendations addressing Provider and TN DCS policies and services

Supporting Project Staff

-Organize search committees and participate in selection of project staff

-Train, supervise, coach, and provide technical assistance to project staff

-Other duties/projects as assigned

 



Qualifications

 

Education

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Implementation Science, Prevention Science, Public Health, Social Work, or related field. Doctoral degree preferred.

Required Work Experience

-Minimum of 5 years of job experience leading/managing program evaluation and/or applied research work.

-Experience with multi-site evaluations.

-Demonstrated experience communicating applied research and evaluation findings clearly to a variety of audiences both orally and in writing.  (Minimum of 3 years of job experience if relevant educational coursework/internships).

-Fluency in participant confidentiality and data security protocols.

-Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred experience

-Knowledge of the field of child welfare and child maltreatment prevention.

-Demonstrated experience with evidence-based practice models.

Exempt Position: Market Range, 13.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday with occasional weekends, evenings, and overnight travel.

WORK LOCATION:  Remote- Knoxville, TN (position is remote with occasional state-wide travel in TN)
