The Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Extension supports UAF’s land grant mission through research at the Agriculture and Forestry Experiment Station, outreach and training through the Cooperative Extension Service and training through the Mining and Petroleum Training Service. This position will work closely with the communications manager and team to ensure IANRE researcher’s work is leveraged at the campus, state and national levels, and to bring that work into context for external groups. IANRE serves staff and researchers across the state of Alaska, making both in person and remote collaboration necessary.

Successful candidates should be comfortable working with scientists, researchers and others to understand complex ideas and translate those ideas into messaging for multiple audiences. Candidates with a demonstrated interest in food systems and food security, and a desire to work independently in a creative atmosphere are encouraged to apply. This is a new position funded through philanthropic support with lots of room for a self-motivated and creative candidate to set the direction of the work and contribute to statewide efforts to inform and strengthen food systems in Alaska.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and two years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , Grade 78, based on education and experience.
