Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:


Maintenance of HVAC systems. Repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Logging refrigerant used and repairs made to equipment. Thorough knowledge and practice of safe working practices, and compliance with federal EPA standards. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Two years' experience assisting in maintenance, repair and/or installation of HVAC equipment which can be acquired from another institution or commercial service companies.
  • Vocational training may be exchanged for a portion of experience at a rate of one-half times per year.
  • Must possess above average mechanical aptitude, memory for abstract ideas and analytical reasoning.
  • Performs general maintenance functions as assigned.
  • Refrigeration, air conditioning and heating training through vocational school, apprentice program, or on-the-job training.
  • Possess an EPA Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the requirements to operate a university vehicle.

Hourly Rate: $12.08 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)

Minimum Salary: $12.08

Work Hours:

  • Eight hours per day, five days per week. Overtime and callback after normal working hours.
  • This position will be required to work to provide critical services during University holidays, closures, and other emergencies, as needed. Critical services refer to the units that ensure the continuation of key operations and services that directly ensure the continuation of key operations and services that directly relate to the security, safety, and/or physical operation of the University (including services to students). Critical services employees will be required to report to work unless their supervisor advises otherwise.
