Brief Summary of Work for this position:


This position repairs, maintains and services heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and building control systems. It also conceives, designs, and implements minor systems modifications, and requires occasional installation of new systems.
This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist in the removal of snow, ice or debris.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:


High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certifications.
Optional Guidelines:
Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience :

  • Prefer five years in diverse commercial and/or industrial HVAC and refrigeration system maintenance.

Required Certifications or Licensure:

  • NC Driver's License
  • CFC Certificate for refrigerant and recovery systems

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:


Maintain and service all heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and building control systems
