Job Summary/Basic Functions

The HVAC Technician's duties required the ability to selective extract and verify information from a variety of sources to applied in the completion of multiple-step procedures required to operate, maintain, and repair institutional boilers.
The job requires an understanding to the interrelationship of these procedures and the desired outcomes and the ability to gather organize and perform technical analysis.
Requires the operation, maintenance and regular adjustment of complex equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Two years of related work experience is required.
- Experience must include a working knowledge of boiler, chillers, and cooling towers maintenance procedures.
- Incumbent should have formal training in Low pressure, High Pressure and Hot water boilers.

Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of National Boiler Codes
- Knowledge of Plumbing and Gas Codes
- Knowledge of EPA regulations.

Job Duties:

• 60% - Maintains and repairs University Boilers and Chillers. - (Essential)
• 20% - Conducts preventative maintenance checks as required. - (Essential)
• 10% - Troubleshoots and repairs boiler, chillers and cooling towers as required. - (Essential)
• 5% - Ensures compliance with all regulatory and/or policy requirements - (Essential)
• 5% - Supports the smooth and efficient operations of the department and the University - (Essential)
