Job Summary:

- Creates and maintains various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations
- Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions according to established policies and procedures
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for recruitment processes, onboarding activities, payroll functions, and/or other HR related activities
- Serves as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities
- Audits and tracks compliance for various HR functions such as performance evaluations, onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing
- Manages the dissemination of HR related communications to various audiences under the direction of leadership
- Required to work special events, emergencies, and/or special assignments as designated by the
Division

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in Human Resources (payroll, benefits, recruitment, etc.), administrative roles, or related field(s).
- Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to keep confidences and use discretion to protect Employees and Employee Information
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures
- Capability to conduct research, analyze data, and discuss workable solutions
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive
- Professional experience managing and improving complex administrative processes.

Additional Information:

Due to the nature of the position and the fact the person hired is an employee of a police department, persons in this position must pass the initial application screening, all steps of the hiring process, an extensive background investigation including credit history check, reference checks, drug screen, physical and psychological examination prior to beginning employment. Persons in this position must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and be eligible to operate University owned vehicles under the conditions outlined by UW Risk Management policies.
