The Department of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Human Resource Coordinator.

The HR Coordinator will serve as the administrative support to Staff HR within the Department. Under the direction of the Department HR Manager, the HR Coordinator will facilitate and participate in a wide range of highly confidential, complex, executive-level HR support activities, represent the Department to internal and external clients and serve as a communication liaison representing the interests of the Department. This position will routinely exercise independent judgement and decision-making skills, set own work priorities and support the implementation of departmental policies.

The HR Coordinator must be able to coordinate across divisions, disciplines and institutions to manage competing priorities and ensure cohesive programs. This position collaborates with the HR Manager, HR Director, Division and Department administration; and must work independently and take initiative to prioritize the workload and accomplish a broad volume of work.

The HR Coordinator must have strong understanding of interpersonal skills, communicate (written and verbal) effectively at all levels within an organization, maintain a positive work atmosphere and handle confidential or sensitive information to be successful in this position.

The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the School of Medicine (SoM) with over 4500 staff, faculty, trainees and students and an annual budget of approximately $500,000,000 consisting of patient care revenue, sponsored research funds, endowments and gifts, state funds and affiliated hospital funding associated with the academic programs within the department. The department is made up of eleven subspecialty divisions: Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Cardiology; Gastroenterology; General Internal Medicine; Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine; Hematology Oncology; Medical Genetics; Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition; Nephrology; Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine; and Rheumatology. These divisions occupy space at multiple sites including University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Harborview Medical Center (HMC), Veterans Administration Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS), Bloodworks NW, Fred Hutch, and other locations in the Seattle area.
