JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Director of Administration, the Human Resources Coordinator provides human resources and payroll support for the department of Preventive Medicine, Radiation Oncology and Physician Assistant Program. This position ensures compliance with university policy and procedure and exercises independent judgment in the resolution of human resources and payroll issues. This position works with the Director, Chair, faculty, staff, and Dean’s Office to ensure HR matters are handled confidentially and with a customer-friendly attitude.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Responds to routine questions on human resources policies and procedures.

2.      Assists with preparation of Position Description Questionnaire including completing supporting documentation.

3.      Processes new and revised position requests in IRIS/SAP system.

4.      Tracks applicants for job postings in Taleo (applicant tracking system); distributes applicant information to hiring managers for review.

5.      Takes lead in the on-boarding process for new employees. Processes termination, Family Medical Leave, and other leave of absence paperwork for employees.

6.      Ensures that interim and annual staff evaluation are completed timely.

7.      Manages volunteer request including ensuring background clearance is complete.

8.      Initiates the Visa applications and renewals.

9.      Manages hiring and termination process for postdoctoral fellows and students.

10.  Ensures biweekly, monthly, and special pay payroll is processed timely and accurately entered into IRIS/SAP system.

11.  Processes promotions, transfers, reclassifications, salary increases, and additional pay increases IRIS /SAP.

12.  Processes pay/effort changes as needed.

13.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 



Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

  EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of related experience as indicated above; OR a combination of related education and work experience to equal nine (9) years. (Progressive human resources experience, to include higher education is preferred.)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

·         Computer expertise including Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access).

·         Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to work well with others.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
