Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is the University’s chief academic officer, second in charge of campus operations. The Office of the Provost provides academic and administrative leadership in all matters of curriculum and program development, the advancement of teaching, and the support of research and other scholarly and creative work in the academic community. The office is responsible for the review and approval of all academic programs and policies and has the authority in all matters pertaining to the appointment, promotion, and compensation of faculty personnel. Personnel administration for all faculty is the responsibility of this office. Reporting to the Provost are the deans, faculties, and staff of the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Visual and Performing Arts, five professional schools (the Joseph M. Bryan School of Business & Economics, the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, the Schools of Education, Health & Human Sciences, and Nursing), and the Graduate School. In addition, the International Programs Center, the Middle College program, the University Libraries, the University Teaching and Learning Commons, Lloyd International Honors College, and the Divisions of Student Affairs and Research and Engagement all report to the Provost. This office provides support and staffing for the campus structure of faculty governance.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to support the strategic goals of Faculty Personnel Services (FPS) within the Office of the Provost. The Human Resource Specialist’s fundamental purpose is to administer and provide oversight in the processing of EHRA Faculty position and employee actions. This includes transactional processing of new hires, salary changes, terminations, etc. The position is also responsible for all EHRA Faculty EPAFs and transactions for appointments, reappointments, promotions, etc.
Minimum Qualifications

BACHELOR’S DEGREE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge of and experience with Ellucian Banner HR
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, customer service, and attention to detail
  • Experience in Higher Education, preferably, within the UNC System
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with the policies and regulations that govern faculty personnel actions
  • Demonstrated commitment to one’s professional responsibilities
  • Ability to think critically and maintain a high standard of confidentiality
