Position Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner (HR Associate), works within UI Health Human Resources Department -Recruitment & Retention to assist in the planning, implementing and evaluation of human resources strategies throughout the Hospital. This position works with the Human Resources Assistant Director, Recruitment & Retention in the sourcing, screening, hiring and processing of new and existing employees. The HR Business Partner (HRBP) assists with the collection and analysis of human resources data and the development of procedural solutions for statistical and information purposes in order to ensure effective results and outcomes. As a strategic partner, the HRBP aligns Hospital and departmental objectives with employees and management through coordinated recruitment & retention efforts. This position serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues by assessing and anticipating Human Resources needs. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the Departments' financial position, staffing models.

 Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and administer various employee group recruitment plans and procedures. Participate in developing goals, objectives and systems for department. Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning. Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect improvements in departmental efficiencies and services

• Assist in the planning and execution of all recruitment activities including: reviewing, tracking and delegating approved RAHAs, monitoring application tracking system use, applicant review, salary determinations based on union contracts/market equity, job offers, onboarding, vacancy postings and orientation classes. Collaborates with outside advertisement agencies for external job postings and advertisements. Assist in coordinating recruitment activities: Open Houses, advertisings, recruitment materials, etc

 • Coordinates and completes all new hire activities throughout the UI Health System including: completing required academic search forms, conducting Behavioral Based Interviews, coordinating/participate in search committees, status reports about search’s progress, posting positions, serving as subject matter expert on the Cornerstone system for users and applicants, scheduling search committee meetings and interviews, conducting reference checks, and extending an negotiating offers, onboarding and initiating access to UI Health Systems.

• Responds to routine inquiries and contacts applicants regarding applicant review, on-boarding, orientation classes, and related recruitment and retention activities.

• Meets with new hires to complete onboarding including: preparing offer letters, degree verification, background checks, scheduling health screens, HRFE transactions, verifying employment eligibility and completion of Form I-9’s using Tracker, sending welcome information, and processing UI NEW HIRE documents

• Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations (Policy and Rules, Statute and Rules, TJC, IDPH and the UIC Equity/Access Program) in all employment activities. Keeps abreast of current legislation and trends. Participates in professional associations and trainings.

• Assists in the planning and execution of retention activities: Nurses Week Celebration, Employee Service award recognition, equity reviews, etc.

• Conduct “HR Rounding” throughout departments to discuss individual recruitment needs and plans. Provide HRIS and HR process training to management. Meet with new employees during their first week to address any questions or concerns.

• Work with UIC HR Compensation to complete equity surveys, approval for merit increases, counter offers and development of job descriptions. Conducting weekly meetings with UIC Employment Services to discuss ongoing recruitment efforts.

• Consult with management and employees providing HR guidance to improve work relationship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
  • Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Full cycle recruitment processes for employee classes e.g. academic professionals, faculty, grad hourly ,etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with utilizing university HR related systems: e.g. BANNER, HR Front End, Cornerstone, JDXpert, I9 Tracker, etc.
  • Knowledge of university polices, procedures, regulations, and standards of practice.
