JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Parent, Regulation, Engagement, Stress, and Health (PRESH) project, directed by Dr. Erika Lunkenheimer at Penn State, is accepting applications for a Human Research Technologist position.

The study focuses on studying parents’ experience of being parented in childhood, as well as their mental health and beliefs about parenting, parenting stress, and parents’ self-regulation.

We are interested in how these factors influence parent-child interaction patterns, parents’ disciplinary practices, and trajectories of children’s behavioral adjustment and mental health symptoms.

This study aims to inform which factors should be prioritized when attempting to better support parents and reduce parenting stress and harsh discipline through family intervention.

The Human Research Technologist will play a significant role in this study by being responsible for project coordination. This will involve the following primary duties:

  • Recruit families online and in-person; track recruitment and enrollment

  • Track project goals; work with the PI to determine timelines, schedules, and team trainings

  • Maintain and update study documents and paperwork

  • Coordinate with other research sites and external data processing teams

  • Assist team members with data collection duties, as needed

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and receive mailings for recruitment and data collection

  • Supervise, train, and coordinate the work of several student researchers in the lab

  • Track financial documents and budgets; monitor and order supplies for the study

  • Work with the IT team to resolve technology issues and changes

This position is based at Penn State’s University Park campus , and the Human Research Technologist will occasionally be required to work on the weekend to complete the study’s goals.

Education and Experience:

This position will be filled as a Human Research Technologist – Social Sciences – Intermediate Professional, which requires an Associate degree and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional experience working with families is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Applicants should have a willingness to learn and develop computer skills.

This is a limited-term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire with possibility for renewal. The start date is as soon as possible.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
