JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a full-time Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine who will work on a variety of preventative health projects related to diet and healthy lifestyles. The Human Research Technologist will take on a key role in the National Institute of Health, three-year funded study, Veggie Rx. This includes assisting with IRB protocols, associated documents and approvals; recruiting, consenting, and retaining research participants, data management and reporting; and assisting with writing and disseminating scholarly work in a variety of settings. Other projects will involve working with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians (including epidemiologists, MD/DOs, psychologists, registered dietitians, social workers, nurse practitioners, and other allied health professionals). This candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Additional qualifications include: Human subjects-related quantitative research experience. Demonstrated data reporting, management and statistical skills. A willingness to collect biomarkers such as blood, urine, blood pressure, weight, saliva, etc. Experience with human subject’s research projects including experience operationalizing study protocols. The ability to work independently and in teams.  The ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities in a professional, positive manner.   Flexibility to work in-person or remotely including some evening hours. The candidate must have reliable transportation.

 

Candidates should be able to work independently and have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, and the ability to contribute to the Penn State College of Medicine and FCM’s missions.

This position typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher (Bachelor’s degree preferred) plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This position will be filled as an Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional depending on the candidate's experience and education.  

Preferred Qualifications: Ideally, the Human Research Technologist will have prior research experience with community-based research, randomized clinical trials in humans, and at least 1 year of demonstrated experience working with human subjects.

 

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $67,300.00
