The Office of the Vice President for Research and the University Research Services & Administration (URSA) welcomes applicants for an HR Coordinator who will oversee all HR functions within the URSA unit that employs over 100 staff and assists with hiring of some sponsor-funded positions in our University Research Centers that are centrally managed.
This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Research & Strategic Initiatives and works closely with leadership in all URSA units to oversee hiring and employment resources for all staff within the office. The position is expected to be knowledgeable about all university HR-related policies and procedures. The position is responsible for advising unit leaders of HR policy and procedures and for supporting their HR-related needs. In addition, this position will work closely with the Associate VP for Research as the central research office seeks to co-lead efforts with central HR to develop and improve of HR policies and procedures especially as they relate to sponsored funding. The position will also serve to assist the Associate VP for Research with special projects as needed. The position allows a hybrid working environment including both remote and on-site work, as needed.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Hiring Management and Payroll
- Final approver for all OneUSG transactions
- Audits, approves, and/or initiates all OneUSG transactions ensuring compliance with all appropriate policies
- Maintains personnel files for all staff
- Serves as the first line resource person for human resources concerns and inquiries.
- Advises URSA units on HR policies, procedures, and updates
- Advises URSA nits and VPR about hiring of administrative staff
- Partners with unit leaders through termination and clearance process
- Advises the AVP on the selection and hiring of administrative staff
Staff recruitment
- Review and serve as final approver on all Taleo transactions
- Assist URSA unit hiring managers with classification of new staff positions and reclassification of existing positions
- Advise and provide assistance in drafting advertisements for GSU Employment Office website
- Ensure all searches adhere to the advertising and interviewing policies and procedures prior to submitting Candidate Recommendation
- Train hiring managers on the use of the applicant tracking process
- Ensure new hires are successfully onboarded.
Classification & Compensation
• Works with units hiring managers to review position responsibilities
• Consults with Central HR Class & Comp and submits needed paperwork for staff C&C changes
• Prepares all justifications for new hires, promotions, raises as needed, in consultation with hiring managers
Staff Performance Management
- Manages the annual staff evaluation process for URSA
- Provides guidance to manager completing staff evaluations as necessary
- Consults with and provides guidance through performance management, including progressive discipline in partnership with Employee Relations.
- Coordinates staff development and morale events and programs for the office
- Serves as the HRAC representative and AA/EEO Unit Coordinator for the office
- Serves on various campus HR committees as a representative of the research community and their interests
- Works closely with supervisor to promote HR processes and policies to the research community
- Serves as the liaison for URSA with various campus offices for HR related operations.
- Assists the Assoc. VP with special projects that include research and surveys on various institutional human resources units. 10. Represents the Assoc. VP at meetings and other functions when necessary.
- Assists the Assoc. VP and her units with coordination of strategic initiatives from the office.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
:
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
- Preferred candidates will have a basic knowledge of current GSU HR policies and procedures, excellent communication skills, able to work well both within a team and independently.
