Housing Maintenance Technician, Appliance, 2nd Shift

Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the position of Housing Maintenance Technician, Appliance, 2nd Shift for the Department of University Housing.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Install and repair washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, ranges, and other appliances.
· Read and comprehend schematic drawings, product manuals, and trouble-shooting guides.
· Perform high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities, including: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry.
· Maintain documentation regarding work activities through StarRez housing software
· Request and utilize equipment and materials appropriately.
· Operate University vehicles, such as box truck, pick-up truck, van, forklift, man-lift, and golf cart.
· Inspect Housing facilities and equipment.
· Move furniture, supplies and equipment.
· Complete general custodial work.
· Participate in on-call rotation in coordination with other maintenance staff.
· Follow emergency protocols and collaborate with Resident Success Staff in emergency situations.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Three (3) years of direct experience working with appliances and two (2) years of related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance are also required. A successful candidate must have a valid state driver’s license, satisfactory 3-year driving record, and the ability to successfully pass a background check.

Trades Specialist IV (KC40/61122877/FTE-S00998P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $37,860.00 (minimum) – $53,957.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Friday through Tuesday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings and appliances; including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and “man-lift” devices. Possess knowledge of safety practices and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.

Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work from ladders or elevated platforms and rooftops.
