Position Summary | The Horticultural Technician supports the Coker Arboretum Curator by maintaining the safety and aesthetics of the garden so that it is visitor-ready at all times. This includes path maintenance, seasonal care of plantings, and maintenance of hand tools and small equipment used in the daily operations. Basic garden maintenance tasks include weeding, raking, leaf blowing, mowing/ string trimming), planting, pruning, etc. This position will also help motivate and engage volunteers, interns and work-study students working in the Arboretum. This position also helps the Coker Arboretum Curator conduct periodic inventories of the collection and keep up with plant labeling in the garden as well as contribute to North Carolina Botanical Garden’s (NCBG) educational outreach by helping deliver talks, tours, and classes. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Graduation from high school and some experience in horticultural work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
