Full Job Description:

Overview: Under the general supervision of the instructor of Intro to Prototyping, this position helps to ensure proper use and maintenance of labs, classrooms, equipment, and materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Assistance: Provide hands-on assistance to students regarding the proper use and setup of lab equipment, ensuring that they have a clear understanding of safety protocols and operating procedures. Offer guidance on troubleshooting common equipment issues and collaborate with faculty to address more complex technical challenges. Foster a supportive environment that empowers students to confidently engage with lab equipment while prioritizing safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold a commitment to safety by actively monitoring lab activities to ensure compliance with established safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Lab Support: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide support during classes and ensure the smooth operation of labs.
  • Safety Oversight: Ensure labs comply with safety regulations and guidelines. Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address any safety concerns.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Conduct workshops to train students on the safe and proper use of materials and equipment within the labs.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
  • Material Management: Oversee the organization and proper storage of materials, ensuring easy access for students and faculty.
  • Classroom Setup: Prepare classrooms for lectures, demonstrations, and experiments, including the arrangement of equipment and materials.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs to support the handling of equipment and materials.

Qualifications:

  • Student Status: Must be a full-time registered student at the University of of San Francisco
  • Course Requirements: Successful completion of at least one of the following classes is mandatory: ENGR 010, ENGR 020, ART 104, ARCH 104
