Job Description:


Responsibilities:
  • Teach Health Education methods courses (elementary and secondary). The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include but are not limited to: Foundations of Elementary Health Education, Health Education in the Middle and Secondary Schools, and School Health Education Field Experience.
  • Assist with programmatic accreditation.
  • Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs. 
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities. 
  • Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
  • Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. 
  • Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.

Required Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Health Education / pedagogy
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience teaching Health Education methods courses (elementary and secondary)
  • Knowledge and experience of the Collegiate Accreditation Process (Professional Education Licensing and Standards Board) and Program Effectiveness Report for Continuing Approval (PERCA)
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct courses via various medium including face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line 
  • Demonstrated experience advising undergraduate students through cross-college curricula
  • Knowledge and experience with curriculum and course development at the collegiate level

Preferred Qualifications:


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching Health Education methods courses at the University level
  • Currently holds or has held State Teaching Licensure
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current teaching licensure process for the state of Minnesota 
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in PK-12 school system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning, implementing, assessing, and revising education curriculum through the University process
  • Involvement in coordinating field experiences within both public and private PK-12 school systems
  • Knowledge of the curriculum of a Physical Education major, DAPE minor, and the College of Education
  • Holds current Mental Health First Aid certification or equivalent certification.
  • Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
