Job Summary

The health policy & education analyst will be key in leveraging social media platforms and websites to disseminate information about sickle cell disease and available treatment options. Priorities are education regarding gene therapy for the upcoming patient enrollment opening (NCT04774536 ), and highlighting the importance of sickle cell specialty care, given the recently opened implementation study of individuals unaffiliated from care.

Department Description

The Sickle Cell Center of Excellence (SCCE) and the Alpha Clinic (AC), under the UCSF Department of Pediatrics (Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland) is seeking a health policy & education analyst to advance two (2) critical projects in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). One project involves initiating and maintaining a digital footprint to leverage social media platforms for patient outreach, education, and accrual into the multi-site, phase 1 clinical trial for the treatment of SCD. The other project involves conducting research on un-affiliation to better understand the challenges and facilitators that are unique to the Bay Area in sickle cell specialty care, and assisting with grant-writing for community based participatory research aimed at developing provider and sickle cell warrior education within an anti-racism framework.

The ideal candidate will use skills as an experienced social media digital (content, video, editing) creator and consumer, with proficiency in Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, or other video editing software. Medical knowledge and background in sickle cell disease preferred, including experience working with SCD warriors and families. Strong organization skills are required.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to interpret and analyze social media analytics
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with sickle cell disease, gene therapy, and related medical terminology
