Position Information
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore, located in Princess Anne, Maryland, a Division I member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), is seeking a Head Women’s Basketball Coach. The position is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position with full benefits. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Use expert technical knowledge of Women’s Basketball to develop and coach a successful program, including the development of high-quality student-athletes, organizing and supervising practice, conditioning, and workouts, overseeing home events and managing travel for away events, supervising staff, and demonstrating athletic excellence.
  • Establish a leadership/mentor role among student-athletes, assistant coaches, and other supportive staff while promoting sportsmanship and responsible behavior both during and outside of athletic competition.
  • Assist with the preparation and control of, and operate within, the budget established for the respective sport.
  • Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Scout and recruit quality student-athletes from geographically and demographically diverse populations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Five years of coaching experience in the sport of Women’s Basketball.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to student-athlete welfare, and academic success
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, conference, and University regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skills and knowledge in reporting any known or suspected NCAA violations to Athletic Administration. (Violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or correction action up to, and including termination of employment).
  • Ability to work closely with the athletics compliance office to complete required compliance paperwork in a timely fashion.
