The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and administering the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Health Professions education process to the College students. The SAS, in partnership with Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking a qualified Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Grant Director to join our team. The ideal candidates must be: dynamic, innovative, forward thinking and willing to embrace the schools' student-centered vision, and currently serving allied health and STEM majors at the college.

The HCOP initiative is a federally funded grant. It is designed to provide undergraduate students from economically and/or educationally disadvantaged students an opportunity to develop the necessary skills needed for acceptance into Health Science (Medical Imaging, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, etc.) professional programs. The HCOP Grant Director will report to the HCOP Principal Investigator (PI).

The AMSC HCOP Director individual will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the HCOP Program with programmatic guidance from the Principal Investigator. The AMSC HCOP Center Director will assist HCOP Scholars in enrolling in courses, assist in directing the academic excellence workshops (AEW), and lead the summer initiatives. The Director will process student applications for evaluation and schedule meetings. The Director will develop case study and critical thinking questions for helping student reach a higher level of Blooms taxonomy in their learning and develop questions for supplemental instruction. These questions will be on the levels of application and analysis level and made available using the BrightSpace (D2L) learning management system.

Preference will be given to the candidates that have proven experience in designing and utilizing Banner 9, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and PeopleSoft. Moreover, the successful candidate will be responsible for properly handling confidential and time sensitive material. Effective communication via phone and email is required, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  •  Prepare and monitor invoices.
  •  Maintain computer and manual filing systems.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies. 
  • Research and creates presentations.
  • Write letters and emails; assist in the preparation reparation of regularly scheduled reports.
  • Take accurate minutes of meetings.
  • Book conference calls, rooms, arrange transportation, couriers, hotels, etc.
  • Answer and direct phone calls.
  • Organize and schedule meetings and appointments.
  • Maintain contact lists of HCOP Scholars.
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: Experience working in a College or University, industry or other related profession. Experience in delivering academic services to students aimed at improving academic study and other skills.  Interpersonal, administrative, and customer skills for working with diverse populations.

Education: Master's Degree.

Experience:  Working in college setting

  • Computer skills with efficiency in Microsoft suite and other database applications.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication skills - oral and  written.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Applied knowledge working in a grant-funded program.
  • Proven ability to advocate, coordinate services and perform liaison duties for under-represented populations. Demonstrated ability to monitor, maintain program records and compile participant / project data for dissemination and reporting purposes.
