Adler University is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Group Facilitator for the Creating Healing Of Inside Community Educators (CHOICE) program. CHOICE is a peer-led in-prison initiative aimed at fostering personal growth, resilience, and positive transformation among incarcerated individuals. Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience and/or comfort working with incarcerated individuals. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with diverse populations. 
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals in challenging circumstances. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate the unique challenges of working within a prison environment. 
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between regional prisons as needed. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitation: Lead group sessions within regional prisons, utilizing evidence-based practices and fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment conducive to healing and personal growth. 
  • Travel: Travel between up to 6 regional prisons to conduct group sessions. Flexibility and willingness to commute are essential. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Regional Coordinator to ensure that the program calendar is appropriately staffed for all area groups. Coordinate scheduling and logistics effectively. 
  • Support: Provide support and guidance to participants as they navigate the challenges of the criminal justice system and strive towards personal transformation. Offer resources and referrals as needed. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of group attendance, session content, and participant progress. Complete any necessary paperwork or documentation required by Adler University or partnering institutions.  
  • Training: Participate in required training sessions or workshops to enhance facilitation skills and stay updated on best practices in prison programming and rehabilitation. 

Work Environment (Physical Demands):  The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
