Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus’ Graphic Designer/Multimedia Specialist is part of the Communications & Marketing team. This individual will play a crucial role in conceptualizing and producing visually compelling graphics, multimedia content, and marketing materials to promote the university's research and support internal and external communications.

Reporting to the Creative Brand Manager, this role will be integral to elevating and supporting the CU Anschutz brand as well as being a creative resource for the Office of Communications team and the campus as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Office of Communications team to develop creative concepts and designs for a variety of digital and print materials, including supporting images for newsroom stories, brochures, flyers, posters, presentations, web graphics, social media graphics, and multimedia projects.
  • Utilize industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite) to create high-quality graphic designs, illustrations, and multimedia content that align with the university's brand guidelines and strategic objectives.
  • Assist with photography and videography projects as needed, including capturing and editing images and video footage to support content and social media campaigns.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of visual assets and templates for use across the campus.
  • Translate complex scientific and medical information into visually engaging and accessible content for diverse audiences, including patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, students, and the general public.

Work Location:

Hybrid – This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2+ days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings, events and projects in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communication, or a related field. or a directly related field from an accredited institution
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • 2 years of professional experience in graphic design and multimedia production.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a healthcare, academic or research environment.
  • Experience in custom illustration design.
  • Experience working with web design principles, HTML/CSS, and content management systems (Sitefinity).
  • Experience with video production, motion graphics and animation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro) and other relevant design software (e.g. Canva).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Ability to work creatively and inclusively within an established brand system.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and orally.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $54,254 – $65,000

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
