Graphic Designer
SOM Chief Business Officer
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
The School of Medicine Graphic Designer handles creative and art production, graphic design, photography editing, production work and image preparation for a variety of digital and print Communications, Advertising and Publications needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must be aware of current trends in graphic design and proficient in Adobe Creative Suites including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Must work on Mac platform and have experience in Microsoft Office. 
• Must be well organized and able to work well under budgetary and deadline pressure, with the ability to anticipate and meet established deadlines.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents.
Required Education and/or Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
• Three years’ experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications or a related field, to include experience producing multimedia, email and web graphic design, as well as experience with the printing process/press checks and effective management of outside production vendors.
• Experience working within a marketing, advertising or other communications team.
Preferred Qualifications
• More than 2 years’ experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications or a related field, to include experience producing multimedia, email and we graphic design, as well as experience with the printing process/press checks and effective management of outside production vendors.
• Ability to work in an agency-like setting, collaboratively, with other members of creative project management and production in a fast-paced work environment. 
• Ability to integrate interactive and print design with an excellent sense of color, type, and contemporary style, while maintaining brand integrity.
• Experience creating smart, compelling visual design that embraces a strong understanding of marketing and communications strategy.
• Experience in video editing and related graphic design.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
