Position Summary:

Applies technical skills obtained from a concentrated degree program in the biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, computer science, information science or biomedical informatics in designing and developing highly specialized programs and applications in a research setting.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Collects requirements from users to assist design of the specific programs for biomedical research.
  • Translates program and/or system requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ensures that the specifications provided are thorough and detailed in order to avoid problems in coding development.
  • Codes moderately complex programs and ensures programs conform to technical specifications. 
  • Tests all functions of the program.
  • Prepares documentation on the program or series of programs.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of completed/existing programs and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Professional competency in one or more of the following scientific programming languages: JAVA, C# .NET framework, Perl, Python, Or other scientific programming languages as appropriate to research focus. Competency in machine learning and/or experience in biomedical research preferred.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, computer science, information science, biomedical informatics or another degree directly applicable to the assignment.

  • None.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
