JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), in collaboration with the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and Penn State’s PIPELINE (Penn State Intern Pipeline Links to Navy Engineering) program, is looking for upcoming or current graduate students interested in research assistantship funding. Students will conduct research to enhance their readiness for successful and significant careers in national security, defense, and aerospace organizations. Typical duties may include:
- Support for engineering testing, data analysis, and data display.
- Hands-on work in a laboratory environment
- Use of multiple computing languages, analysis tools, simulations and measurements
- Networking with and presenting work to program sponsors
Students studying Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be awarded a 1/2 time assistantship, subject to a yearly review, at up to 3 years of funding. This is a paid position located at ARL/PSU’s University Park campus.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here .
