Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
The Administrative Support Specialist position assists the Division Director of Graduate Studies to facilitate the recruitment of graduate students within the division. Provide administrative support as needed for grants, projects, meetings, filing, maintenance of records or programmatic activities for use in subsequent years, and maintenance of confidential documents and information. Proofread and edit correspondence, reports, records, etc. Work with faculty and course Teacher Assistants in preparing syllabi, lecture materials, handouts, and copying Quizzes and exams for professional and graduate course work. Coordinate travel for students and prospective recruits. Coordinate with Division office and other offices in the school (HR, finance, grants, etc.)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail orientated, and flexible. 
- Ability to promote and maintain a productive and collaborative work environment and create a knowledgeable and welcoming workplace for administrators, staff, and students. 
- Possess excellent judgement, communication skills and professionalism. 
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex policies to the faculty and trainees with regard to regulations at the university, state, and federal levels. 
- Prior experience in providing administrative support at a high performing level. 
- Experience with Microsoft products. 
- Experience with editing and proofreading.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Prior administrative related experience.
- Prior experience coordinating travel.
- A self-starter, detail oriented, and able to multitask while prioritizing agendas for themselves as well as faculty.
