SUMMARY:

The Graduate Enrollment Specialist, will participate in and coordinate activities, events, and programs that promote the various graduate programs offered through the University. The position is responsible for performing student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, tracking, and advisement of graduate students, and activities necessary to carry out the mission and strategic plan of the University. Provides detailed information on and refers to University resources that can assist prospective, new and continuing graduate students in addressing their inquiries, needs and/or concerns regarding admission/enrollment, matriculation and progress in their desired graduate programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represents A&M-Commerce’s graduate programs to both internal and external constituents, and other targeted audiences.
  • Coordinates and engages in recruitment programs and activities to enhance relations, university brand and recruitment opportunities.
  • Provides direction to graduate students, faculty, and staff related to all aspects of progressing through any graduate degree program.
  • Charged with all aspects of enrollment management for assigned programs, including enrollment pushes, enrollment tracking, student registration, etc.
  • Collaborates with university faculty, staff and students to identify strategic recruitment opportunities and create marketing, recruitment, and communication materials.
  • Ensures recruitment efforts are in accordance with the prescribed admission policies outlined by the Graduate School.
  • Keeps abreast of current information about graduate programs.
  • Maintains current and extensive knowledge of University graduate student policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships and communication with internal offices.
  • Uses university programming (e.g., Salesforce, EAB, DegreeWorks, Banner, WebFocus, Laserfiche) and various modes of communication for the recruitment, tracking, and advising of potential, new, and continuing graduate students.
  • Promotes the well-being of the office by cross-training with co-workers, briefing co-workers on current activities, and updating computer skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two (2) years of related experience in advising recruitment, marketing and/or customer service. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Ability to communicate information individually, in small groups, or in formal large group settings.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to travel throughout Texas, and potentially nationally, is required. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Graduate degree in a discipline offered at the University. Prior work experience in higher education. Familiarity with the TAMU-C campus, its historical landmarks, and points of interest and location of both academic and non-academic offices. Experience with database management.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

Titles of positions supervised (Graduate Assistants, Student Workers).
