The Graduate Assistant will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the department of Residence Life. This is a live-in position that will assist with the oversight of a residence hall and provide administrative assistance to the department. This position will serve in a duty rotation with the other Residence Life Community Director team members.

Student Engagement - 30
Responsible for supporting a safe, comfortable, and positive environment in which students can achieve their academic and personal goals; promoting student and community development; assisting with administrative functions.
Promote student learning and the creation of a civil and respectful community.
Assists staff with settling conflicts, problem solving, mediation and crisis management.
Programming - 30
Assists with the coordination of several major programmatic aspects of residence life including but not exclusive to: Resident Student Association, CA Recruitment and Selection, CA Training, Staff Recognition, and Summer Conferences.
Work with Residence Life staff and Community Advisors to create programmatic expectations for the residential community.
Collaborate with campus partners to provide educational programming for residents.
Administrative Support - 20
Assist in reviewing work order logs for assigned buildings and conduct follow up on maintenance requests to ensure completion. Addresses facilities issues that compromise the health and/or safety of the residents immediately and thoroughly.
Completes various reports, forms, and other documents as needed; assist with room change requests as needed.
Participates in special projects and committees as assigned. Attends professional staff meetings and training sessions.
Assists in the recruitment, selection and evaluation of Community Advisors.
On-Call Responsibilities/Policy Enforcement - 20
Interprets and enforces all administrative policies and procedures.
Responds to emergency situations in a manner consistent with established procedures. Conducts follow up on emergency situations as necessary and utilizes campus and community resources appropriately to address crisis situations.
Serves in a duty rotation for the residence life program during and after normal university business hours and on weekends. On call evening and weekend duty will be shared with other staff members.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Other Required Qualifications
Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Other" attachment in application.
Maintain academic good standing. If a student's grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.
This position will work in-person 19 hours per week. 
- Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
- Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.
Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
This position will live on campus in a provided, fully furnished apartment.
Required Experience
1-2 years experience in housing and residence life as a Community Advisor or equivalent experience.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
All educational fields of study may be considered.
Preferred Experience
Multiple years as a Community Advisor. Experience with living on campus. Experience with program development, conflict mediation, emergency response, and student leadership.

ABILITIES
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment, to take initiative, and to follow through with all responsibilities and assigned tasks.
