Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead Student Engagement Team

  • Use imagination and creativity to create and enhance projects
  • Distribute assignments to team members
  • Coordinate projects
  • Help team work through issues and roadblocks
  • Track progress and deadlines
  • Move projects forward to timely completion

Support Marketing and Social Media
  • Lead Sustainable Food Dashboard project
  • Assist in developing outreach campaigns to current and prospective students and other campus community members
  • Monitor, track, and respond (or seek advice) as appropriate
  • Plan and design communication the highlight key Dining Services values (sustainability, food security, guest service, culinary excellence, thriving workplace, value)
  • Develop content and continuing programming on social media
  • Track results: Instagram posts, reels, stories, contests; Twitter – post specials; Reddit; TikTok; Discord; Comment Cards; Facebook

Lead Student Engagement Team support of Dining Plan Office
  • Hire, onboard, schedule, evaluate
  • Train SET members in office protocols: greet guests, answer phones, respond to emails
  • Schedule staff for the Office and Directors Office
  • Schedule and direct in-person program support initiatives (e.g. tabling)

Other tasks and projects as assigned, depending on team needs as well as the Graduate Assistant’s skills and interests.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position is only open to Graduate Students currently enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park.

This is a 20 hour per week, 12 month assistantship position.

  • Lead Sustainable Food Dashboard project.
  • Highlight sustainability features of resident dining program including dine-in, composting, recycling, awards.
  • Promote Terp Farm and the Maryland Farmer’s Market.
  • Promote collaborations with Cool Food and Menus of Change.

Eliminating campus food insecurity
  • Promote the Maryland Campus Pantry.

Guest Service
  • Feature individual team members.

Culinary excellence
  • Feature seasonal specials, variety of flavors, quality of staff.

  • Remind internal and external customers of the value of the dining program.

Physical Demands
