Position Summary
The Athletics Administration (Graduate Assistant) works with the Athletic Director and the Athletics Senior Staff on a daily basis to manage the administrative affairs of the department. The Athletics Administration Coordinator supports both external and internal functions of the department. Internally this position supports financial services and externally supports revenue generation opportunities. The Athletics Administration Graduate Assistant supports the day-to-day leadership of UIW’s Division I Athletic Department.
This is a student position open to current UIW graduate students.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and The UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.
Essential Functions
-Support assigned areas of the Intercollegiate Athletic Programs, which includes serving as the department’s Senior Staff liaison;
-Support the Athletic Director/Senior Staff in development and implementation of a sustainable Division I Athletic Department model;
-Assist the Athletic Director/Senior Staff in establishing overall athletics goals, objectives, and strategies; develop and implement programs and activities to accomplish goals while improving the image of the University;
-Responsible for supporting the Athletic Director’s efforts in building trust and establishing meaningful relationships with all internal and external partners;
-Plans, coordinates, and ensures the Athletic Director’s schedule is followed and respected; provides “gatekeeper” and “gateway” role, creating positive situations for direct access to the AD’s calendar;
-Examines, arranges, and follows up on issues and concerns addressed to the Athletic Director, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature;
-Provide excellent communication between the Athletic Director’s office and campus community; demonstrates leadership to maintains reliability, trust and support with all constituents;
-Deals with matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, and within needed time constraints;
-Ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA, and conference regulations;
-Perform other duties as required

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
-Personal computer applications, including proficiency in MS Office Suite;
-Ability to provide leadership and direction;
-Ability to effectively and creatively manage complex issues, develop, analyze, and monitor complicated budgets;
-Self-motivated;
-Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the department, the University, and the University community;
-Energetic self-starter who exercises sound judgment;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, current UIW graduate student as of the effective date of hire.
Required Work Experience
Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics and/or customer service
Preferred Qualifications
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Valid Texas driver’s license with the ability to be insured through UIW’s vehicle insurance carrier
Work Hours
Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift equipment, tools and/or materials weighing up to 25 pounds waist high
