Job Description:

The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications will assist the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications in all areas of operating an elite college athletic communications department.  The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task efficiently, communicate at a high level, and be extremely organized.  The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications will report to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Assist as a media contact for all sports teams (currently 18 NCAA & 1 club).
  • Assist in game-day operations related to media, press box, scorer's table, game statistics, game programs, and pre/postgame press conferences.
  • Assist with maintenance of the athletics website (CBUBucs.com), including but not limited to posting/updating schedules, rosters, student-athlete and staff bios, and maintaining updated record books.
  • Help produce regular press releases (season and event previews, recaps, and other news).
  • Assist in using social media to promote individual teams and CBU Athletics.
  • Assist with requests from outside media sources for interviews, statements, and credential distribution.
  • Work collaboratively with the University's Advancement Office when required on athletic-related news stories and events.
  • Assist in managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of media equipment.
  • Adherence to institutional, Gulf South Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Supporting the vision of the CBU Athletics Department; helping develop and implement a marketing strategy to enhance the brand and tell the stories of CBU Athletics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions):

  • Be engaged in campus events
  • Assist in monitoring student-athlete social media accounts
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Interest in athletic communications is recommended
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Computer skills
