The University Center for International Studies (UCIS) is seeking a Global Communications Specialist to be responsible for disseminating information and knowledge about the University of Pittsburgh’s international education, research and outreach activities to various audiences, promoting our work to raise the University’s profile and reputation and providing support to the academic and operational teams within UCIS for their communication needs.

The incumbent will be responsible for engaging digital and print content (e.g., graphics, animations, schematics, newsletters, infographics, and videos) to support stakeholder engagement, translation of research, outreach and student activities for diverse, international audiences. Completion of tasks requires consultation and collaboration with academic center teams, operational teams, external partners, advisory groups, and representatives from departments and schools.

Other duties include:
• Sharing our news with specific audiences such as academics, prospective and current students and the public.
• Managing social media accounts to engage with the audience and share regular updates. Attend events for the purpose of social media coverage. 
• Regularly updating websites with news, articles, and resources. 
• Creating and distributing regular newsletters.
• Collaborating with relevant university/school personnel to enhance our visibility.
• Crafting and distributing press releases and news articles for media. 
• Developing content for promotional materials that showcase our work and impact.

Preferred experience: Experience with content management systems/HTML, familiarity with Canva/other basic graphic design, experience writing for a general audience. Given the writing intensive nature of this position, a cover letter or writing sample is required as part of the application.



Job Summary

Develops routine web and print content and marketing. Creates varied presentations for communications team and diverse marketing materials for marketing team. Ensures consistent messaging and maintains University brand and style.


Essential Functions 

• Provides routine content and marketing development for web and print media including, but not limited to, writing, editing, research, web graphics and templates, social media, signs and banners, reports, templates, and other print collateral. 
• Supports communications team in the creation of a variety of presentations, including templates and graphics, compiling and standardizing slides, and ensuring design and branding consistency. 
• Supports marketing team in producing and editing a diverse set of high-quality marketing materials, including newsletters, flyers, brochures, and course materials. 
• Maintains and updates applicable databases in a timely and accurate manner. 
• Supports events and promotions, including vendor contact, interfacing with clients and designers as needed, developing materials, and milestone deliverables. 
• Works collaboratively and effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs), creative teams, and University departments to ensure high-quality content is delivered. Modifies messaging according to the target audience, communication goals, and communication channels employed.  


Physical Effort 

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Hiring Range $37,182 - $42,000
