Job Summary:


The Genetic Counselor specializes in providing comprehensive genetic counseling services to patients under the supervision of a licensed genetic counselor with either a personal or family history of genetic diseases or illnesses. This role involves coordinating various program services and delivering exceptional patient care while prioritizing safety, patient preferences, and effective communication.
In their daily duties, the counselor performs various critical tasks: they collect, review, and interpret family and medical histories, medical records, test results, and other essential data. They coordinate the testing process and ensure that results are communicated effectively to patients and referring healthcare providers. Additionally, they develop personalized genetic counseling plans that include risk assessments, educational resources, life planning options, and treatment strategies.
The counselor also provides direct counseling and education to patients and their families, facilitates referrals for further testing, treatment, and support, and stays updated with the latest trends and developments in genetic disease research under the supervision of a licensed genetic counselor.

Required License/Registration/Certification :


MS (by hire date) + Temporary License (by hire) & Certified Genetic Counselor within 12 months

Preferred Education/Experience:


New Graduates are encouraged to apply. Kentucky Genetic Counselor License (Temporary or Full) by hire date and Certified Genetic Counselor within 12 months.
