Position Information
The Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS), located in the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), seeks applicants interested in working with students with disabilities as exam proctors for the SAS Testing Center. Applicants enrolled in graduate programs are encouraged to apply.  This is a temporary, contractual, hourly paid position. Hours could range up to thirty (30) per week (depending on schedule). Salary is a rate of $16.75 per hour.
About the role: As an exam proctor you will support a student’s learning by monitoring the testing environment. Students may have testing accommodations for a number of different reasons, in which they need extended time and/or a distraction-reduced environment to test in. Maintaining a distraction-reduced testing environment is essential for student focusing and processing purposes, therefore the role of the exam proctor provides crucial support. 
At times, students may also have other testing accommodations which could include assistance with writing and/or reading an exam. Students may need additional support in these areas for a number of different reasons, for example a temporary or long-term physical injury or condition, a visual impairment or a learning difference. The exam proctor may be asked to provide this support when appropriate. 
Responsibilities
  • To monitor the SAS Testing Center as an exam proctor by ensuring studentswith testing accommodations are provided all necessary materials and a distraction-reducedtesting environment.
  • To work in a professional, helpful and distraction-reduced manner while ensuring that student confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To complete and return all relevant paperwork accurately and promptly.
  • To engage in training relevant to the role and occasional supervision/team meetingswhere relevant.
  • To provide adequate notice if you are unable to proctor on a scheduled day and ensurenotification of any changes to your availability for work or contact details.
  • To prepare the SAS Testing Center for daily use by reviewing the pre-populated Exam Log that identifies students testing and details, ensuring all computers are on and working, and ensuring that all testing supplies are sanitized and readily available for use.
  • To instruct students to place all personal items (bags, cell phones, computers, smart watches, tablets, headphones, earbuds, coats, drinks, food) in the testing center personal lockers and disseminate all testing materials and/or supplies.
  • To monitor all students in the testing center; including routine walk throughs to ensure students are not engaging in academic dishonesty or using more than their allotted time.
  • To report any direct observations or general concerns of academic integrity or disrespectful/disruptive behavior to OIE/SAS staff members immediately.
  • To ensure any questions or concerns that you cannot answer are brought to OIE/SAS staff members as soon as possible.
  • To prepare the testing center for closure by returning the exam log to OIE/SAS staff members, ensuring all computers are signed out and no personal belongings were left behind, sanitizing all testing areas and materials/supplies, and storing items in their designated place.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree. Applicants enrolled in Graduate Programs must be in good academic
  • standing within their program and have a GPA of 2.8 or above.
  • Must have strong communication, reading and writing skills.
  • Must be well organized, punctual and reliable.
  • Must have a positive attitude towards equality and access for people with disabilities.

  • Ability to review, follow and provide clear instructions.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently with Google Docs, Google Meet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or learn specialized software.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with individuals at all levels within the University.
