GEN ACCOUNTANT 4 (General Ledger Accountant

Assists with the day-to-day management of campus-wide Oracle support and reporting. The operations of the Oracle Support unit support the entire UC Davis community including the UC Davis Health System in Sacramento, research centers at Bodega Bay and Tulare, the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) field stations located throughout California and the Washington D.C. Center.

Reporting to the Oracle Support Unit Supervisor, the General Ledger Accountant performs a key role in Oracle Support, serving the UC Davis community and its various stakeholders. This position holds responsibility for closing month/year end process. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and financial statements. Responsible for the day-to-day management of campus-wide Oracle General Ledger support and reporting, including the Medical Center and Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Monitors efficiency of the unit and reviews and implements policy and business process improvements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Five years of accounting/finance leadership experience within higher education or related setting.
• Experience using a General Ledger system, preferably Oracle or similar ERP system.
• Experience in leading assigned projects, seeing project through from beginning to end with little or no direction to a successful conclusion. Experience working with large complex data sets, providing analyses, and developing concise summarizations.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

• Advanced knowledge in accounting and financial management principles, theory and practice including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) environment. Demonstrated professional level of analytical, statistical, and mathematical skills to conduct complex financial analyses.
• Excellent Excel skills, including formatting, Sumifs, Vlookups, and Pivot tables.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

• Knowledge of UC policies and procedures.
• Knowledgeable of the UC Accounting Manual Knowledge and understanding of university, campus, management principles, philosophy, problems, and subject matter.
• Organizational and project management skills to achieve timely progress on multiple, simultaneous projects and drive project progression; to distribute effort appropriately among financial projects to meet competing deadlines; and to work under pressure, shifting priorities as urgency dictates, and maintain a high level of productivity.
