Job Summary

The majority of the graduate teaching assistant’s primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:

1. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory
2. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks
3. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory
4. Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab, etc.

Wonsook Kim School of Art Graduate Assistantships are Teaching Assistantships. As such you may be responsible for:
1. Serving as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory
2. Assisting a faculty member with teaching related tasks
3. Grading student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory
4. Meeting with and/or tutoring students
5. Holding office hours
6. Preparing instructional materials
7. Assisting during class and/or lab, etc.
8. Supervise safety and equipment use in labs
9. Assist in setup and hosting of student Exhibitions on campus and online


Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Minimum per GA Handbook


Required Qualifications

1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University accepted into the Master of Fine Arts program.


Work Hours

Variety of hours and in some cases weekend/evening hours will be required.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
