Job Summary
Under the direction of the Controller’s Office Solution Center Manager, the Solution Center Financial Services Analyst will be responsible for resolving the more complex inquiries, reaching out to the functional units to coordinate solutions, and helping reinforce the adoption of service management (ServiceNow) system with a high degree of independence. They must possess an in-depth understanding and analysis of all the applicable processes, policies, and systems relating to the functional business units supported by the Solution Center. The individual will provide analysis to aid in monitoring quality assurance, as well as evaluate areas for growth or to identify efficiencies. The Financial Services Analyst is responsible for meeting Service Level expectations set for the unit in terms of production and customer service, as well as assisting in providing reporting and metrics for key goals and objectives while leading a variety of project-related activities. Additionally, this role will assist in creating and documenting procedures and training for process changes as well as the adoption of new functional business knowledge.

Department Description
The UCSF Controller’s organization delivers full accounting services and related systems for faculty, staff and students, the UCSF Foundation, all University departments and any outside entities who have a business relationship with the University. Services provided include general ledger, capital and cash accounting, payroll, student loan billing and collections, sponsored research accounting, and a customer service center. The office uses sophisticated technology to account and report on UCSF financial activity.
The Controller’s Office Solution Center is charged with delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of responses to a variety of inquiries sent to the Controller’s Office. It serves as the single point of contact support for campus departments, employees, and others to resolve inquiries related to a variety of Controller’s Office functions and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Three to five years of relevant, progressive knowledge of financial processes, policies, and procedures.
- Three to five years of Payroll, HR Administrative, Bookkeeping, or general accounting experience or supporting those functions/systems, or a combination thereof.
- Three to five years of experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).
- Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
- Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
- Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to professional and support staff.
- Three to five years gathering data and conducting financial analysis.
- Three years Customer Service/Support experience: identifying and analyzing issues, diagnosis, causes, and formulating solutions.
