UMass Global's full-time faculty's responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and service. Research activities are supported but not required. All faculty positions are non-tenure track, primarily hired at the rank of Assistant Professor; however, higher rank may be considered if appropriate. UMass Global offers competitive salaries with generous benefits.      

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Ph.D. in composition and rhetoric or a closely related discipline from an accredited university.
  • At least two years of online teaching experience as instructor of record

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with writing technologies, including generative artificial intelligence and its ethical use in teaching writing.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, including multimodal composition (e.g., video essays, podcasts).
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices in teaching writing across the disciplines.
  • Experience teaching adult learners in a diverse university environment.
  • A commitment to teaching undergraduate students.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the above-listed areas

Responsibilities:

This 10-month position includes shared responsibility for curricular administration of the Associate of Arts in General Education Program. Teaching, mentoring, and course management duties will include general education courses in first-year writing and literature and may include courses in the humanities and/or liberal studies. This position is expected to work and teach online rather than from a physical campus.

Pay Range:

Assistant Professor Pay Scale: $74,000 - $82,000 based on education and experience

Associate Professor Pay Scale: $80,000 – $88,000 based on education and experience
