Job Description:

Purpose: 

To supervise students and faculty working in the Game Design Computer labs and Game lounge.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Controls In/Out access to Game Design Labs and Game Lounge.
  • Checks out any necessary computing accessories from the Game Design storage closets for faculty and student needs as designated by Game Design faculty and Coelynn McIninch in the Photo Lab.
  • Helps students with technical problems with the lab equipment. 
  • Trouble-shooting of equipment and programs in the Labs and are responsible for contacting their supervisor if backup support is needed.
  • Recognize when to shut equipment down if problems are too serious to handle without faculty supervision. 
  • Makes periodic rounds of the Game Design Labs to verify security of equipment and to ensure the safe and proper use of equipment by the students.
  • Contacts Campus Police if problems arise with security.
  • Prepares reports for faculty regarding any technical problems they are unable to resolve. Informs faculty of any security problems. 
  • Alerts Campus Police to lock up lab complex at end of evening shift.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Requirements:

Appropriate supervisors should have more advanced training with Photoshop/ Flash/AfterEffects/DreamWeaver/any Animation software. Lab Monitors are a critical line of support with the campus community and should therefore have a professional appearance, possess good interpersonal skills, have a basic working knowledge of equipment and software utilized in specific labs, be flexible and have a positive attitude. They should be able to recognize common problems and correct them. They should recognize when software or hardware problems are more serious and to have the judgment to shut systems down when necessary. They should be able to assist students when needed. Punctuality is required. If unable to cover a shift, prior notice and/or arrangements must be made in advance.


Additional Information:

Shift Information:  This is a student only posting and you must have Federal Workstudy money allocated to you in your financial aid package. Shift will vary based on student schedules and the pay is $15 per hour. 

Priority Review: Students currently enrolled in Communications Media classes and students with appropriate equipment and software proficiencies listed on their application will receive priority review for this position.
