Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of DevOps, the Front-End Developer independently develops complex software for enterprise-wide deployment at all UC Campuses and Medical Centers. In collaboration with cross functional teams, this role implements UI designs, develops and maintains accessible UI components and front-end libraries that can be reused across all RSS applications. The Front-End Developer collaborates in all phases of the software development cycle including designing, documenting, coding, and maintaining robust solutions to meet the needs of RSS clients.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • RSS Hybrid work schedule requires 3 days onsite.
  • Occasionally work flexible schedule outside of standard working hours.
  • Occasional travel.
  • Potential to work extended hours as necessary to meet important project deadlines.
  • Personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines/instructions.
  • Adhere to workplace safety practices, read information communicated about workplace safety, complete required safety training on time, and report any workplace safety issues promptly to their supervisor or the designated safety coordinator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • A minimum of 1-year of professional experience as a front-end developer for medium-sized projects, independently building reusable components and front-end libraries used in a production environment.
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Advanced proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and familiarity with front-end frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js, Typescript).
  • Intermediate knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and web accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Ability to create visually appealing user interfaces while maintaining an acute attention to detail.
  • Oral, written, and interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with technical and non­technical stakeholders.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

  • 3+ years of experience as a front-end developer for medium-sized projects building reusable components and front-end libraries.
  • Experience with TypeScript, REST APIs, GraphQL.
  • Experience with Storybook or other UI workshops.
  • Experience interacting with designs in Figma.
  • Experience with testing front-end components.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Advanced knowledge of web application and mobile application development frameworks.
