Job Summary 

Responsible for providing peer support services to members with behavioral health issues, psychiatric disorders, drug and/or alcohol dependence. The peer worker will act as a consumer advocate, provide information and support for consumers, and assist consumers in their recovery process.

Essential Functions 

  • Develop meaningful and trusting relationships with patients, acts as a mentor to clients.  Develop engagement plans with potential clients.
  • Handle the logistics for patients such as arranging transportation for the client, managing follow-up appointments, and collaborating with other care team members.  Coordinates warm hand-offs with MAT sites and community agencies.
  • Support clients in addressing challenges of recovery process and assist and guides clients towards developing goals.  Provides ongoing support and mentorship throughout engagement in program.  Acts as a liaison with Criminal Justice System.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings.  Must have ability to travel (car, walk or public transportation) to other community locations. Must have internet services at home.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of year of experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with high throughput imaging desirable, but not required.
  • Familiarity with NTP devices is desirable, but not required.
  • Experience in mentorship and training is desirable.

Physical Requirements 

  • History of substance abuse and successful completion of treatment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop clear lines of professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of recovery process and community resources available in Philadelphia
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently within a variety of situations.

Location 

  • Center City – Philadelphia, PA  

Additional Information 

This position is classified as Non-Exempt grade H. Compensation for this grade ranges from [$ 17.14 to $ $ 25.71 per hour]. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
