Department Summary
The Center for Human Identification (CHI) is an accredited forensic laboratory on the campus of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. With funding from the State of Texas and various Federal Government agencies, CHI supports forensic DNA testing, anthropological examinations, local CODIS operations, training, and various research and development initiatives. CHI also manages the Texas Missing Persons DNA Database.
Position Overview
Perform lab duties that include extraction and amplification analysis of data.

Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in biology, chemistry, forensic science related discipline; completed coursework in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry; and a statistics course from an accredited university or program approved by the Texas Forensic Science Commission.

Job Duties


o
Casework examination following all Quality Assurance Manual and Protocol/ Procedure Manual guidelines.
o
Data analysis, interpretation of results, and report generation.
o
Technical and administrative review of casework.
o
Provide expert witness testimony as required.
o
Participation in various validation and laboratory projects as needed.
o
Maintain proficiency in DNA analysis and interpretation by completing two external proficiency tests per year as required by the National Standards.
o
Complete required hours of continuing education and review current scientific literature.
