Summary

The University of Michigan Football Program is currently seeking applicants for a Football Performance Dietitian.  The Performance Nutrition program at Michigan provides an evidence-based and sport-specific approach to fueling student-athletes for optimal health and performance. Under the director of the Director of Performance Nutrition, the Director of Strength & Conditioning, and the Head Football Coach, this position will work closely with coaches, strength & conditioning, athletic training, team physicians, and performance psychology as part of a comprehensive performance team to ensure the health and welfare of all Michigan student-athletes.


Responsibilities*

This position will report directly to the Director of Football Performance Nutrition and provide nutrition services to the football program.  

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain confidentiality in all dealings with student-athletes, coaches and staff regarding student-athletes development and progress as well as all aspects of the football program.
  • Adhere to all department and university policies and procedures, as well as rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and NCAA.
  • Assist and collaborate with Director of Football Performance Nutrition to provide nutrition services to the football program. 
  • Provide football student athletes with nutrition focused counseling, education, and development. 
  • Assist in management of the Training Table, Fueling Stations and Nutrition Center including oversight of budget and inventory. 
  • Coordinate with performance chefs, strategic vendors, and local catering regarding training table and menu design.
  • Assist in the conduction and evaluation of body composition testing and utilizing iDXA and other measurement methods.
  • Support on-field hydration, fueling, and monitoring of Football Student Athletes.
  • Assist in coordinating nutrition for team travel.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, Director of Performance Nutrition, and Director of Strength & Conditioning. 

Required Qualifications*
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division I Rules and Regulations as well as Big Ten bylaws.
  • Master's Degree.
  • RD/RDN with active status through Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • 1-2 Years Sports Nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian. 
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week; including weekends and holidays.  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all members of the Performance Nutrition staff and other athletic department personnel.  
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.  
  • CPR/AED Certified.
