7:00 am – 3:30 pm; Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Mandatory Position
This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
The position is considered to be a fully functioning painting. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks are concentrated on painting but may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in assigned buildings.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Job Duties
The Facility Maintenance Technician – Building Trades performs under the direction of the Building Interiors Supervisor
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Perform multiple fully functioning tasks in the building trades area.
  • Perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level.
  • Provide career tracks including but not limited to Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Locksmith, Masonry, Painting, Plastering, and Roofing that perform a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled.
  • Apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to trade.
  • Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and regulations.
Other Work Responsibilities
  • May perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Graduation from High school or GED equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
  • Experience in the trades areas of cabinetmaking, carpentry, masonry, painting, plastering, and roofing areas.
  • Two years’ of experience with metal stud framing is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) necessary with effective skills in interpersonal communications needed.
  • Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
  • Ability to effectively work/interact with faculty/staff and campus community.
  • Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Operates assigned vehicles on and/or off campus.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license is needed or ability to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment to the position.
  • Positions may be required to acquire and maintain required certification, license, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
