Job Summary:

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative Program Strategy & Research Dissemination Coordinator. This position is a key member of the school’s Injury & Violence Prevention Center (IVPC) and will provide high-level operational support to the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative (FIPI) through research dissemination, community engagement, infrastructure development and support, project management, and communications and outreach.  

  The goal of FIPI is to coordinate, synergize, and stimulate collaborative approaches to firearm injury prevention throughout the state and country. The Program Strategy & Research Dissemination Coordinator must balance the input of many different interested parties across the state, including diverse communities, and will work closely with partners within and outside of the University of Colorado. A successful candidate will be able to navigate the challenges of communicating on a controversial issue while respecting the diverse views and lived experiences of impacted communities and partners.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and promotion of dissemination products aligned with FIPI research (e.g., toolkits, implementation guides, visual abstracts, data briefs).
  • Field and collaborate on requests from national and local partners for technical assistance and training on evidence-based firearm injury prevention.
  • Support the development of infrastructure to support firearm injury prevention researchers (e.g., tracking funding opportunities, identifying tools to support grant development).
  • Work with FIPI leadership to create and implement a strategic communications plan, including website development, content creation, social media strategy, and external constituent engagement. 
  • Oversee planning and implementation of various on- and off-campus events with partners and collaborators (e.g., FIPI Monthly Webinar Series, annual convenings, community events). 
  •  Assist with community outreach programs led by Initiative Collaboration & Partnerships Team.
  • Monitor effectiveness and progress of Initiative programmatic efforts. 
  • Assist with planning and implementation of key Initiative faculty and staff, including managing scheduling, logistics, and in-person facilitation and support. 

This is a full-time position and reports to the FIPI Program Director.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

·         A bachelor’s degree in public health, business, business administration, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

·         2 years of related professional level experience.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in public health, business, business administration, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years working in the field(s) of firearm injury prevention and/or violence prevention.
  • Experience with creating content for websites, social media, newsletters, and professional reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management and/or event management.
  •   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and Zoom.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to listen and speak to a variety of diverse audiences, communicate persuasively, and write proficiently.
  • Ability to navigate challenging discussions on controversial topics in concise, transparent, and empathetic ways.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of individuals in both academic and community settings.
  • Demonstrated high level of independence and individual time management of project tasks.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting target salary for this position has been established as $55,368 - $70,000.

  The above salary represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
