Job Summary

This is a mid-level analyst position which provides general analytical support to the department on various financial projects with particular emphasis on support for post-award (contracts and grants).  The analyst prepares regular Budget Status Reports (BSRs) for PIs, gathers and analyzes financial data and applies professional concepts to perform basic financial analysis, prepares and summarizes information and/or recommendations.

The position also occasionally supports clinic financial operations and general administration.

Department Description

DEPARTMENT OF PREVENTIVE AND RESTORATIVE DENTAL SCIENCES
The Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) is the largest of four departments in the School of Dentistry at UCSF, and is responsible for teaching in excess of 67% of the pre-doctoral DDS curriculum and the majority of the International Dentist Program.

We provide comprehensive oral health care services with over 120,000 patient visits per year. We offer a four-year DDS program as well as a two-year program for international dentists that culminates in the DDS degree. We have numerous specialty residencies, PhD and Master’s degree programs in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, a combined DDS-PhD program, and a combined PhD-dental specialty training program. Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. The School is one of the preeminent oral and craniofacial research enterprises in the world, ranking number one in National Institute of Health funding for 24 consecutive years.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and one year experience or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to work in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate proficiency with funding entry and retro changes in UCPath once trained.
